Figueres and the Dalí museum

Figueres' Teatre-Museu Dalí is the country's biggest surrealist piece: a burned theater converted into a museum by the painter himself, with a glass dome, a patio raining Cadillacs and the master's crypt.

Getting there

Direct train from Sants — the fast one reaches Figueres in under an hour, the regional takes double and costs less — and twenty minutes on foot to the museum through the small center.

The museum, with sense

Book online without fail: time slots sell out in season. Two and a half hours cover the theater-museum calmly; Cadaqués' jewel and Portlligat's house are another whole excursion if the Dalí day stretches.

Figueres beyond Dalí

The shaded rambla, Sant Pere church and the Sant Ferran castle — a colossal fortress on the edge — justify the stroll before the return train.
